COLLISION IN MID-AIR

TWO PLANES IN RACE ONE PILOT KILLED BRISBANE, Aug. 8. Two Gipsy Moth aeroplanes engaged in an air race collided at an altitude of 200 ft. to-day, one crashing in flames on the Rocklea showgrounds. The pilot, Duncan Ferguson, aged 35, was burned to death. The other plane, although seriously damaged by the impact, was brought down safely at the Archerfield aerodrome by Pilot William Hill, who is suffering greatly from shock but is not injured.
