BAFFLING FLIES

COLOUR AS A MEDIUM FRANCE FAVOURS BLUE LONDON,'JuIy 29. "What colour do flies like least?" is a question which is being discussed by architects and decorators. Mr. G. B. I. Athoe, secretary of the Incorporated Association of Architects and Surveyors, after a visit to France, where he inspected various hospitals and clinics, said that when he asked why the walls were all painted a medium blue he was intermed by and architects that experience had proved that flies showed a noticeable dislike for the colour. The view of others is that, while flies might not like medium blue, it is a colour which is, for patients, less cheering than pink, primrose or yellow. Thus the psychological factor enters, presumably opening a wider field for experiment.
