MOTORISTS’ BREACHES WARRANTS TO BE CARRIED Several cases of breaches of motor regulations were dealt with by Mr. E. L. Walton. S.M., on Thursday at the monthly session of the Magistrate’s Court in Ruatoria. Sergeant L. T Moore, Gisborne, conducted the cases for the police. On a charge of negligent driving, Renata McLean was convicted and lined -£1 and costs 14s. For having no driver's license he was convicted and fined 5s and costs 15s, and for not having a warrant of fitness lor his car was convicted and fined 10s and costs 15s. Haua McLean also was charged with having no driver’s license and was fined 5s and costs 17s, and convicted and fined 10s and costs 17s for being without a warrant of fitness for his car. William Joseph Harvey was charged with aiding and /abetting Renata McLean in the commission of an offence and was convicted and fined 10s and costs 12s. Ben Brown, charged with driving a motor vehicle and not being the holder of a driver’s license, was convicted and fined 5s and costs 10s. On a charge of not being the possessor of a warrant of fitness for his car, he was convicted and discharged. The latter charge was made as a warning to motorists, it being explained that even if a man was driving a car which did not belong to him he was responsible and should make sure that the car was furnished with the necessary warrant of fitness. . John Haercwa and Kareti Gerrard were conjointly charged with thfeft, assault, and indecent language. The charge of theft was dismissed. Each defendant was convicted and fined £1 ind costs £1 8s 9d on the assault charge and Haercwa was convicted md fined £1 and costs lbs tor using indecent language. The other charge against Gerrard was dismissed.
