Reports from Madrid state that a bombardment lasting an hour killed a number of people, including three women, in the centre of the city. Buildings were extensively damaged. Tram drivers abandoned their cars for the first time during a bombardment.
The steamer British Corporal, which has arried at Algiers, reports that three monoplanes bombed her for an hour. No casualties were suffered, but--slight damage was-caused. When the crew attempted to take to the boats, the planes swooped down and machine-gunned them, forcing them to shelter.
It is reported that planes also bombed the Italian steamer Mangioia when aiding the British Corporal, seriously wounding the master, Captain Verrito.
