The wool sales closed with an offering of 725(5 bales. Including 5001 from New Zealand, and 5994 vales were sold.
Competition was active and good clearances were effected at firm rates. New Zealand sales were: Scoured Merinos, Rosedale, top price 30 ; ’d, average 30gd: slipe quarter-bred lambs, Kaiapoi, 23id; balfbreds, top 211,d, average 1 Old. Throughout the sales 71,000 bales were offered, and 23.500 bales of Australian and 29,000 of New Zealand were sold, with 5500 bales of Australian and 1(1,000 of New Zealand held over. The home trade bought 37,000 bales, and the Continent 34,500 bales. Competition was increasingly active as the sales progressed. Better class Merinos were rather dearer, and faulty pieces to par to 5 per cent lower. Fine crossbreds recovered the initial loss and closed at par. Coarse grades were firm throughout, but slipes closed 5 per cent lower.
