THREAT OF DISCLOSURES

REASON FOR ABDICATION ALLEGATIONS BY VICAR (Reed. July 17, 11.20 a.m.) NEW YORK. July 16. In an interview with the New York Times, the Pev. Anderson Jardine, the former vicar of St. Paul’s, Darlington, Yorkshire, who performed the religious ceremony at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor at Monts, France, alleged that the Church of England inspired hostile forces in the United States to persuade American charities to abandon their sponsorship of his lectures.

He threatened to “blow off the lid and expose the real reasons” for the abdication of the ex-King, leading to the disestablishment and disendowment of the church. Mr. Jardine said he thought that the Archbishop of Canterbury’s whole attitude was un-Christian.

He added: "I will be a free lance preacher when I return to England, delivering talks similar to those I intend to give in the United States. Certainly I will talk freely in England. I do not fear the Archbishop of Canterbury and the church. I intend to tell the truth about them.”
