The infantile paralysis epidemic and other circumstances have brought about a considerable variation in the present school year. The Gisborne High School at present is observing its mid-vear holiday, which is the students' final break until December. The decision of the Gisborne High School Board of Governors to give the students a month's holiday at this time was brought about as a result of the interruption of school activities by the epidemic and the necessity of making it possible for the school staff to attend the New Education Fellowship conference. High School students will commence their final term of the year on August !). Primary schools break-up to-morrow for a week's holiday, enabling the teachers to attend the conference in Wellington, while in about a month primary pupils will cease work again for the annual spring holidays, lasting two weeks.
