NAME FOR NORTH LAND
WAITANGI SUGESTED PROVINCIAL STATUS (Per Pross Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. In connection with the move for provincial status in the north, the Whangarei Harbour Board this morning passed a motion supporting the project and suggesting the name Waitangi for the territory. The board also decided to change the name of the deep-water port of Kioreroa to Port Whangarei.
