PRINCESSES’ SURPRISE

WALK ALONE TN CROWD LONDON, May 17. The Princess Elizabeth, leading her sister Margaret by the hand, this morning walked 400yds through a crowd of 10,000 people waiting outside St. George’s Chapel, Windsor. After attending service in the chapel, the little Princesses opened the gate of the deanery and, unaccompanied, walked to the Moat Garden, 200yds away. The crowd made a path for them. Many patted them on the shoulder as they passed. The Princesses went to the Moat Garden because they wanted to see how the fairylike castle they had watched last night from Royal Lodge was floodlit. Lord Wigram showed them the giant arc lamps and reflectors. Then the Princesses walked back through the cheering crowd.
