INTER-CLUB GAMES XOLAGA VISITS TOKOMARU (Herald Correspondent.) Perfect weather prevailed at the week-end for the visit of members of the Tolaga Bay Golf Club to Tokomaru Bay to contest the George Oates Memorial Cup. Morning and afternoon tea were served in the clubhouse by the local ladies. The president of the Tokomaru Bay club, Mr. F. Thompson, extended a hearty welcome to the guests, and Mr. V. F. Hurlstone, on behalf of the Tolaga team, fittingly replied. At the end of the day’s play, the Tokomaru Bay team was 5 up.
The following are the detailed results, Tolaga Bay players being men-' tioned first in each case:- — Foursomes.—Miss Weeks and Mrs. Moore lost to Miss E. Hale and Mrs. N. Oates, 3 and 2; Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Bellerby lost to Mrs. F. Brown and Mrs. E. Knox, 3 and 1; Mrs. Fraser and Mrs. Reid beat Miss E. Oates and Mrs. W. Nevin. 5 and 4: Miss Wells and Miss Atkinson lost to Mrs. Riddell and Mrs. R. Short, 1 down.
Singles.—V. F. Hurlstone beat P. Te Wai, G and 5; J. Tuhiwai beat P. Fairlie, 5 and 4; T. Curry beat F. Brown, 5 and 3: B. McCreedy lost to H. Gardner, 3 and 1; R. Moore lost to W. Horton, 5 and 4; 11. Irving lost to N. Oates, 7 and 5; C. Wilson lost to R. Short, 3 and 1; King lost to A. Oakey, 8 and 6; Stewart lost to F. E. Porter, 7 and 5: C. E. Smith lost to V. Cull inane, 10 and 8; Morton lost to A. Orr, 9 and 7; Nolan lost to J. B. Stafford, 10 and 8.
During the afternoon the ladies played an “approach and putting” competition. Six tied in the first round, and the second round resulted in a win for Miss E. Oates. Miss B Weeks came a close second.
