SPRINGBOKS IN BRISBANE WEAKNESS IN DEFENCE BUSTLING OF BACKS (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. July 12, noon) SYDNEY, July 12. The representative of the Sydney Morning Herald in Brisbane, says that the Springboks in Saturday’s game, smashed Queensland’s defence with swift passing rushes and many sharp thrusts. It was a convincing exhibition of the open game, and weak though the defence became, nothing could detract from the excellence of the Springboks’ form, he says. The Sydney Daily Telegraph says that one thing the Queenslanders did prove was the weakness among the Springbok backs when bustled. With the Queensland forwards sweeping downfield the Springbok backs were disconcerted, missing the ball in the air and giving poor passes and mishandling.
