TATTOO IN YORKSHIRE
PAGEANT OF HISTORY CRICKETERS ATTEND LEEDS, July 11. The members of the New Zealand cricket team last night were among 50,000 spectators at the Roundhay Tattoo, Yorkshire’s Aldershot, when they saw historic military engagements reenacted in period uniform by Royal Scots and Royal Ulster Rifles, physical training and national dancing by the Scottish Borderers, riding displays by the Royal Hussars, and remarkable trick motor-cycling feats by the Royal Corps of Signallers.
Impressive marching was staged by the massed bands of Lincolnshire, Cheshire, Border, Manchester, Yorkshire and Lancashire regiments, and an anti-aircraft display by the Royal Artillery and Royal Air Force. The tattoo, which lasted nearly four hours, concluded with the vast crowd singing ‘‘Abide With Me,” which provided one of the most memorable nights the team has had in England.
