TEACHERS’ MEETING
EDI -CATION A L I NSTIT^E
The monthly meeting of the Poverty Bay branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute was held in the Gisborne Central School on Friday evening, Mr. J. E. Shimmin being in the chair.
Considerable discussion arose over the proposal that a federation of the Hawke’s Bay and Poverty Bay branches should be formed. Further information on the subject is being sought.
All present were in accordance with the president’s proposal that the meetings of the branch in October and November should be held, on dates to be arranged, at Tolaga Bay and Te Karalca. ,
The meeting in August should be a particularly helpful one to members as it was decided that it should be a special one devoted to general discussion on the aims and suggestions to meet the new conditions in schools as outlined by the senior inspector in his recent address.
