HELP FROM THE STATE
HIKURANGI MINE DEWATERING SCHEME (Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, this day. The deputation which sought assistance in dewatering the flooded Hikurangi mine announced at a public meeting last night that the Cabinet had approved of an immediate grant of £2OOO from the Mines Department. Further bores are to be put down with a view to proving the coal and if results are good the Government will contemplate increasing the grant bv a further £ 5000.
