EAST COAST RAILWAY
VALUE TO H.B. SHOW SPECIAL TRAIN POSSIBLE For the purpose of celebrating the opening of the East Coast railway, and the inducement of exhibitors from north of the viaduct, Mr. E. Wall offered a special trophy of £3 3s at the A. and P. Society meeting yesterday, for the exfiibitor gaining most points in the sheep, cattle and horse sections.
Mr. C. E. Twist and Mr. C. Douglas added £1 Is to prize money and it was decided to purchase a cup to be known as the East Coast Cup, to be won outright. An.effort is also to be made to secure further donations to the prize fund.
The secretary of the A. and P. Society, Mr. A. M. Retemeyer, said that arrangements would be made for a special night stock train to run from Wairoa, and efforts were also being made to, secure a special passenger train from Wairoa for the Spring Show.
It was decided to write to both the Waipawa and Poverty Bay A. and P. Societies requesting their support towards the provision of the special cup and also their co-operation in the arrangement of a special train.
