Ha-Ha (Kerr) and Rana (Dornan) ran three furlongs in 38sec. Both are carrying the right condition and hit out, well. Shani (Croskerry) was set a light task. The bay filly is a bit light. Attempting a Comeback Hunting Cry (Dunn), who is trying to make a comeback and was given easy work on the hurdle track, is backward in condition. Hunting Crop (Fletcher) was sprinted over the last part of a round. Ihu (Lee) and Mailman (Kellett) Were partners over four furlongs, run in 51sec., both doing it without urging. Grand Sport (Lee) came home fast over the last, part of a round. Quaint (Kerr) ran six. furlongs in lmin. 19sec. The bay mare could have done better. Mahala (Donnelly) went two strong rounds on the course proper, pulling up well after her effort. Kitchenette (Kerr) was going better than the Lockstitch-Sparks filly over two furlongs. Both show promise. Singing Gold (Dunn) sprinted down the straight twice. The brown mare does not show her best on the track. Bothwell (Marshall) was not asked to do anything strenuous. Rapa Waiata (Dunn) and Warstep’s colt (Kerr) ran two furlongs, but were not after time. Comedy Queen (Kellett) went nicely over four furlongs, which she ran easily in 51 sec. Brown Lap (Russell) went freely over two rounds at a strong half-pace Skyway (Kerr) went a,strong round on the course proper, pulling up well. Hinepit (Kerr) ran six furlongs In lmin. Rlsec., and probably would have done better with a mate. Good Hunting (Lee) and Small Boy (Tinsley) jumped five fences in good style. Mangatahi (Dunn) jumped the brush, sod wall and double twice, giving a safe but slow exhibition of jumping. Defend (Lorigan) was set nn easy task. i Vulpes (Rangi) went a round over the schooling fences, jumping well. Big Dock (Kerr) sprinted home over the latter portion of a round, pulling up well after his effort. Lordly Knight (D.ornan) pulled up sound and well after a strong round. Jayola (Russell.) ahd Dragon Queen (Martin) were both given easy tasks. The former is rising two years. The Defoe-Monn Bruce Jilly and the Hunting Song-Lady Horton colt were given light exercise. They are owned find bred by Mr. W. IT. Wilson, and are two very fine juveniles. Un-la (Lee) was given an easy task. The bay mare bears a well-trained appearance. Blue Needle (White) went very freely over two rounds and is very well at present. Gay Hunter (Kerr) was going better (ban Pennycomequirk (Kellett) over live furlongs in lmin. ssee. Merry Cry (Dunn) was given an easy task. The brown gelding has been off the scene for some time. Defra.v (Davis) was set the lightest of tasks, this concluding the morning's work. Black Thread was worked after lunch, his task being an easy one as he has no immediate engagements. Successes at Trentliam John Charles, winner of the Trentliam Hurdles and the Winter Hurdles at the recent Wellington meeting, had his first race at Tolaga Bay in a district race and probably would have remained in obscurity had there been no races of this description. Collision, runner-up in the Winter Hurdles, is a local bred horse, and, 1 i ice John Charles, was not carrying his breeder's colours.
