SCHOOL FUND DANCL (Herald Correspondent.) Despite the unpleasant weather the dance held at the To Rcinga pa last. Saturday was more successful than the organisers expected. A good crowd attended and appeared to enjoy themselves. The music was supplied by Miss Lexie Baty, Tiniroto, assisted by Mr. Richardson with the violin, and an extra played by Mr. Boy Hemi was much appreciated. A liberal supper, dispensed by Mrs. Reid and Mrs. Richardson, assisted by willing helpers, was much enjoyed. During the evening the chairman, Mr. Olsen, thanked those present for their attendance, pointing out that any assistance given to school functions benefited the children. Ari added enjoyment was given by a tap dance contributed by Miss Milly Kahura, accompanied on the piano by Miss Bella Marsh. As a result of the

function the school funds benefit 1o the extent of ,£G 4s sd. At. the monthly meeting held at the school on Thursday evening there was a poor attendance. Those present wore Messrs. P. Olsen, chairman. A. Reid, and R. J. C. Richardson, headmaster. A competition held lo augment the sehol funds was completed, the winners being: Pendant (donated by Prcbblc Bros.).—Hata Tipoki. Lavender water and soap (Beck's).—Rangi Tamehana. Tea (Winter Bros). —B. G. Hayden. Cocoa (Wishart and Hume).- John Wihone. The death occurred suddenly at (he pa on Thursday morning of Mrs, To Hata. An inquest will be held. To Rcinga was fortunate in escaping the heavy fall of snow that was experienced fairly generally in this part of the district, but a very heavy frost was recorded yesterday morning. A mob of about 500 young cattle from the Ruakituri Valley, passed here yesterday cn route to Gisborne.
