The matter of reducing the experimental area, as recommended by the agriculture instructor, was approved, and it was decided to plant the additional area with shrubs as ; soon as the ground was levelled. One special tree would be planted to celebrate Coronation year. Mr, J. Armstrong, Avondale, Auck- • land, who has just retired from the Z staff of the Auckland Education Board, accompanied by Mrs. Armstrong, has returned home after a - holiday spent at Ormond as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Jones. Mrs. i . Armstrong, who was formerly Miss Blott, lived in Gisborne as a small - child in 1878, her father owning a .... butchery business and they being the only white residents over the river at - that time. latter's mother in Gisborne. Mrs. G. Parsons and her son, Mr. H. Parsons, left on Thursday to spend a holiday at Rotorua with her sister, Mrs. W. Cummingham. Messrs. G. H. Parsons and A. Spellers returned on Wednesday evening from Napier and Hastings, the journey over the ranges proving very difficult owing to the snow-covered roads.
