PSYCHIC EXHIBITIONISM

CRITICISM BY ACTRESS OXFORD GROUP PRACTICE LONDON, July 9. A dramatic attack on the Oxford Group Movement was made by the well-known stage actress, Miss Margaret Rawlings, at a luncheon given for 2500 litterateurs to meet the founder of the movement, the Rev. N. Buchman. “I think I am here under false pretences,” said Miss Rawlings. “I was told the main speaker would be Mr. Bernard Shaw, but it has turned out rather different. I have been asked to speak my philosophy of life. I consider public confession, such as we have seen at this luncheon, to be psychic exhibitionism combined with sensual satisfaction. It is to me as if someone took off all his clothes in Piccadilly Circus.”

The speech startled the remarkable gathering.
