RATES MAINTAINED BRADFORD TOPS (Reed. July 9, 3 p.m.) LONDON, July 8. • At the wool sales, 7459 bales were offered, including 4564 from New Zealand and 6432 were sold. There was a better demand for a very good selection. Full current rates were maintained.
Bradford tops quotations are:Merinos: Seventies, 39Ad; sixtyfours, 371 d: sixties, 30d. Crossbreds: Fifty-eights, 32d; fiftysixes, 29Jd; fifties, 25id; forty-sixes, 25d; forty-fours, 25d. The market is firmer, but business continues moderate.
Tlie prices at the London wool sales which opened this week are substantially ahead of those at the opening of the July series in recent years. The opening rates in July in the past three years have been:- — 1935 1936 1937 d ri d d d d

Murray, Roberts and Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London: — -Prices at the wool sales are: 6/64's New Zealand merino, yielding 48 per cent, 17.L1; 56’s, yielding 64 per cent, 18'cl; 50’s, yielding 70 per cent, 17d; 48/50’s, mxd. prep, and carding, yielding 72 per cent, lG.td; 46/48’s, mxd. prep, and carding, yielding 74 per cent, 16Ad; 44/40’s, prep., yielding 76 per cent, 16U1; 44/46’s, carding, yielding 74 per cent, IGAd; 40/44’s, yielding 75 per cent, 16.1 d; 36/40’s, yielding 76 per cent, none offering." Closing rates of the previous series are the same as above.
