Offering up to £4 per week per man as a subsidy from the employment promotion fund towards placing in employment for four months 200 ablebodied men now on sustenance in the Manawatu district, the acting Minister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb, conferred with local body representatives from the city and surrounding area. The City Council undertook to place a majority of that number, and the others agreed to give full co-operation with the Minister.
