BARTLETT'S NEWS

ENJOYABLE DANCE (Herald Correspondent.) A most enjoyable dance was held on Wednesday evening at the Y.M.C.A. Hall, BartlCtfs, organised by the social committee of the local branch of the Labour Party. Despite the bad storm during the earlier part of the day, a large number of dancers attended, enjoying dancing on a good floor to music provided by the local orchestra of six players with Mr. D. Blair as their leader. The hall was tastefully decorated, and the stage again looked splendid, due to the work of Mr. and Mrs. Pearson. Mr. Pearson was responsible for the lighting effects, which in the twilight waltz were very pretty indeed. After supper, dancing continued until early in the morning. Mr. T. O'Donnell, sen., was the M.C. Among those present were Mesdames Robinson, Harris, Anderson, Good, Rodgers, Poole, O'Donnell, Torrie, Phipps, Hibbert, Rominger, Fouhy, French, E. Smith, Clanachan, and Shaw; Misses Butler, Lahood (2), French (2), Kerr, Clanachan and Harding.

The staff cookhouse has now come to rest on its new site. It has been moved bodily some distance back from its original position, to make room for the main highway deviation on the Bartlctt's side of the stream. A large shed on the opposite side of the stream has been moved in a similar manner.
