MARIST DETERMINED
GOOD SHOWING EXPECTED RELIANCE ON FORWARDS (Notes by "Sideline") The Marist senior team is determined that they will win their fair share of games in the third round of the competition and they are expecting to make a good showing to-mor-row in the match against H. 5.0.8. The team is expected to be at full strength again and if the forwards get their share of the ball a close and interesting match should develop. The team is not yet settled, but it'is likely that the backs will comprise D. Heeney, S. Yates. R. Gardner, M. Barry, 11, Duckworth, L. Winstanley, and J. Edwards. It is also probable that T. Maughan, late of the Napier Marist team, will take his place in one of the back positions.
In the forward division the men are all out to make amends for their poor showing against P.W.D. and the rest should see them in the best of form for the match. The pack will be selected from 11. Bean. E. Knopwood, 11. Warren, M. Doyle, W. Ritchie, R. V. Lawless. E. OTlalloran, R. Quinn, Harris, and D. Hamon, and it is expected to field a first-class scrum.
The juniors are playing H. 5.0.8. and are keen to put up a good showing as their match with Old Boys B is now drawing close, and they are eager to be the first team to stop the victorious march of the championshin leaders. For the Maris! team R. Friar, R. Morgan, E. Owen, and W. Murphy have been giving good performances in the backs, while E. McGrannachan, K. Hall, M. McCallion, and R. Rigney have been doing good work in an excellent pack of forwards.
