HUNT AT KAITARATAHI
SEVERAL GOOD RUNS (Herald Oo'rrnspondpnt.) A mid-week hunt was held at Kaitaratahi yesterday, when hounds met at the old freezing works. Scenting conditions were poor owing to the heavy frost, but nevertheless several good runs were enjoyed by the fol-l lowers. Hounds first drew Mrs. Mackic's property, when a hare went away to circuit three times on a course leading through Mr. Wilton's and Mr. Newman's front paddocks, and back through Mrs. Macule's. Hounds, however, lost her by the railway bridge. Mr. Wilton's was next drawn and a hare was raised which gave a fast run. It crossed Mr. Muilooly's and twice ran into the orchard, but hounds rushed her out to a kill on the riverbank. The final hare of the day was raised from by the railway behind the old sports ground. Travelling fast, it circled back to the old works, through Mrs. Mackic's and Mr. McPhail's and returned through Mr. Wilton's, where she was lost. Hounds were now lifted and followers returned to the old works for the welcome cup of tea prepared by the ladies. The followers included Mr. H. H. Dods, master ol the hunt, Mr. H. R. Williams, president; Mesdames H. R. Williams and E. Rhodes; Misses E. Murphy and J x Rutledge: Messrs. W. Hale, E. Rhodes, W. Adair. J. Hale, and Father Curley.
Among the spectators were Mesdames H. H. Dods, Young, G. Dods, and Misses J. Bloomficld and Young.
