SHOTS AT TRAINS
PASSENGER'S ESCAPE MELBOURNE. July 1. Three shots were fired at trains which were travelling ootwoen Albert Park and Middle Park, between 8.35 and 9 o'clock to-night. The first shot struck the 8.32 p.m. train from Flinders street to St, Kilda, The bullet entered an open window of a compartment in which two men and a woman were seated, shattered a framed advertisement, panel on a partition, showering the hat of one of the passengers with glass, and richocheted through a closed window on the opposite side of the compartment.
Soon, afterwards the 8.44 p.m. and the 8.52 p.m. trains from St. Kilcla to Melbourne were struck by bullets. In each case the shots were lired from parkland near the Middle Park station. It is believed that a .303 rifle had been used.
