LIBRARY AFFAIRS
NO ELECTION NEEDED OFFICERS NOMINATED No election will be required in connection with the appointment of officers for the ensuing year at the annual meeting of Turanganui Library subscribers this evening. Nominations for the various offices are just sufficient to fill the vacancies, and the library’s business will be conducted for 1937-38 by the following:—President, Dr. A. L. Singer; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. H. Lawton and R. W. J. Edwards; committee, Mrs. T. W. White and Messrs. A. E. Pyatt, A. M. -.-.-emam, A. J. Stock, G. C. Jones, A. E. Carrington, and A. W. Harper.
Of those who occupied executive posts last year, Miss C. Osborne and Mr. G. Crawshaw have intimated that they will not be able to continue their work on the committee. Mr. Crawshaw was a vice-president last year, and the vacancy caused by his iretrrement has been filled by the nomination of Mr. R. W. J. Edwards, who has been on the executive for some years.
Of the old committee, Messrs. A. E. Pyatt and A. j. Stock retired by rotation, and have been renominated; Mrs. White and Messrs. A. E. Carrington and A. W. Harper are newcomers to the committee.
Though official posts have been allocated without recourse to an election, the annual meeting this evening should be full of interest for subscribers, and a good attendance is expected, several subjects of importance in the management of the library, and of libraries in general having been set down for discussion.
