“MAN WITH DONKEY”

PURCHASE FOR ADELAIDE PAINTING OF GALLIPOLI LONDON, June 30. The original painting of the Gallipoli hero, “The Man with the Donkey,” of which thousands of reproductions have been made, has been acquired by the Agent-General for South Australia, Mr. McCann, on behalf of his Government. The artist is Horace Moore-Jones, of the New Zealand sappers. The picture came into the possession of a Perthshire man in 1919 and he bequeathed it to his son, Herbert Shields, a former Australian sheepfarmer, who now lives in England. It will hang in Parliament House, Adelaide.
