The British cruiser Penelope is searching for the crew of a British ship believed to have been torpedoed in the Mediterranean. An SOS reported that the men were’ adrift in an open boat without oars. The captain was dead.
The vessel, the name of which as given in the signal could not be deciphered, was said to have been torpedoed by an unknown submarine 50 miles from Barcelona.
