Fat sheep made a sharp advance at to-day’s Addington stock market, wethers being dearer by 3s to 4s a head, and good ewes by 2s. Fat cattle sold firmly and likewise fat and store pigs, but vealers and dairy cattle were easier. In the store sheep section only a few pens came forward and a sound sale resulted. Ewe hoggets sold to 27s 3d, and old ewes, close to lambing, at 20s 6d.
The fat sheep market was the dearest for a long time. The entry was smaller, the total being about 3700 head. Wethers advanced by from 3s to 4s a head and ewes of good class by Is Gd to 2s, lighter sorts being slightly easier. Extra prime heavy wethers made to 45s lOd; prime heavy 35s to 395; prime medium weight, 31s to 345; ordinary, 27s Cel to 30s; extra prime heavy ewes to 34s lOd; prime heavy, 27s Gd to 30s: prime medium weight, 25s to 275; ordinary ewes, 20s to 245; light ewes, 13s to 19s. There was a fat cattle entry of 510 head as against 500 last week. Good cattle showed a tendency to harden, and a large amount of the heavy beef ranged round about 33s per 1001 b. Unfinished steers and ordinary cows maintained last week's rates. Extra prime heavy steers made up to £l7 17s Gd; prime heavy, £l3 to £l4 15s; prime medium weight, £l2 to £l3 ss; ordinary steers, £lO to £ll ss; extra prime heifers, to £l3 10s; prime £8 5s to £9 10s; medium. £6 5s to £9 15s; light, to £0; extra prime cows, to £l2 2s Gd; prime, £6 to £8; medium, £4 10s to £5 15s. For vealers there was a good sale for small calves and a dragging sale for other sorts. Big and plain calves did not meet with much demand. Prime heavy runners brought up to £6 6s; heavy, £4 to £4 10s; medium, £2 15s to £’3 ss: prime vealers, £3 to £4 ss; medium, 50s to £3; small calves, 20s to 475.
The dairy cattle were a poor quality lot. Spring caivers made up to £5 ss. The market was down by about 20s a head. Best second and third caivers sold to £9 10s; heifers, to £9. There were no quotable lines of store cattle.
Fat pigs: Porker prices rose sharply. Baconers were penned in smaller numbers and competition was keen throughout. Choppers made 43s Gd to £5 8s Gd; porkers, small, 26s Gd to 35s Gd; porkers, medium, 38s Gd to 44s Gd; good porkers, 45s Gd to 49s Gd, extra heavy, 50s Gd to 55s Gel: average price per lb. 6>,d to Gild; baconers, 54s Gd to £3 7s Gd; heavy baconers, £3 12s Gd to £3 19s Gd; extra heavy baconers, £4 Gs Gd to £4 19s Gd, average price per lb, Gd to Old. Stoic pigs. Prices were scarcely up to those of last week. Weaners were easier by 2s to 3s a head; small weaners realised 7s Gd to 10s; good, 11s to 13s; slips, 15s to lGs Gd; small stores, 17s to 19s; medium stores, 20s to 245; large stores, 25s to 275.
SALES AT WESTFIELD ALL PRICES MAINTAINED HEAVY KEEK YARDING(Pur Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. In spite of the heaviest yarding of beef for some months, values were well maintained at the Westfield sale to-day. Steers, having been in short supply for a long time, an increased entry in this section was particularly welcome although the quality generally showed a deterioration. Belter cows and heifers were available. Extra choice ox sold at 32s per 1001 b.; choice and prime, 27s to 31s; unfinished, 24s to 28s; prime cow and heifer beef, 24s to 295; unfinished, 17s to 245; extra heavy steers, £l3 5s to £l4 2s Gd; heavy, £ll to £l3 2s Gd; medium, £lO 10s to £l2; light, £9 to £lO 17s Gd; unfinished, £4 to £8 17s Gd; extra choice cows and heifers, £8 15s to £11; heavy, £7 10s to £9 ss; medium, £0 10s to £7 7s Gd; light, £4 10s to £6 7s Gd; unfinished, £3 to £4 15s.
Larger numbers of sheep were sold but only a limited selection of prime lots were yarded. Prices for all grades, including an average quality assortment of lambs, maintained late improved rates. Prices were: —Extra heavy wethers, 39s to 40s 3d; heavy, 34s 6d to 38s; medium, 32s to 34s 9d; light, 30s to 335; unfinished, 25s to 30s; extra heavy ewes, 30s to 33s (id; heavy, 27s to 29s Gd; medium, 24s 6d to 27s 3d; light, 20s to 24s Gd; unfinished, to 21s; prime lambs, 20s to 325; unfinished, 12s Gd to 20s 3d. Calves were not up to the standard of last week’s quality, but bidding was again keen for all prime sorts and firm values ruled. Realisations:— Runners, £2 10s to £7 Is; heavy vealers, £4 4s to £5 ss; medium, £3 14s to £4 8s; light, £3 to £3 16s; smaller, £2 to £2 IGs: unfinished, £1 8s to £2 ss; bobby and rough, 5s to 30s. An average entry of baconers sold readily at recent quotations. Porkers improved towards the close of the sale. The quality was satisfactory. Prices:—Choppers, £1 to £4; heavy baconers, £4 to £4 17s; medium, £3 15s to £3 19s; light, £3 Gs; heavy porkers, £2 14s to £3; medium £2 Gs to £2 12s: light, £1 18s to £2 ss; unfinished, £1 to £1 15s; slips, 10s to 17s; weaners, 5s to 14s. Baconers averaged Gild to 7d per lb.; porkers, Gd to Gid.

Aberdeen Angus heifers making £8 10s to £9 18s. Similar medium prime cows sold l’or £8 to £lO, medium £7 to £7 15s, and iigtn £5 5s to £6 10s.
Breeding ewes again met with a good demand, five-year entries making to 30s, two-tooth 30s to 345, fairly well-grown forward woolly Romney wether hoggets to 225, prices showing an improving tendency. Store wethers were not on offer.
Prime quality constituted a small percentage of the fat sheep offering, light to medium ewes predominating. No heavy entries were penned. Best sorts made to 26s Bd. and light and inferior from 19s to 21s. Good quality two-tooth wethers, 561 b, realised from 33s Id to 345. The hoggets penned were very small grown, In the beef section, the best heifers equalled up to 30s per 1001 b, and the cows from 20 jto 28s. Second quality soils, which showed no improvement, equalled about 20s per 1001 b.
