RUATORIA COURT
SERGEANT TO BE PRESENT i METHOD OP PROSECUTION Since llio departure of Sergeant Sparks from Tokomaru Bay in August, 1935, each constahle has carried out his own prosecutingi at the Ruatoria court and a new method to 1)0 given a trial at tire session of that court to-morrow will be for a non-commissioned oflicer .of the Gisborne force to conduct the prosecutions. • When Sergeant Sparks was stationed on the Coast it was usual for him to conduct the cases, but as the Ruatoria court serves four police districts—Tokomary Ray, Waipiro Ray, Tikitiki, and Ruatoria —the inspector of police, Mr. G. R. Edwards, is of the opinion that the work of Sergeant L. T. Moore in prosecuting all police cases to-morrow will tend to greater efficiency. The constable’s duties will be those of clerk of the court and in many cases he will be called on as a witness.
