BADMINTON
TQKOMARU BAY CLUB YANKEE TOURNEY ENDS (Herald Correspondent.) The combined doubles handicap Yankee tournament conducted by the I’okomaru Bay Badminton Club, concluded ori Monday evening. Owing to the non-attendance of some of the players a limited number of matches were won by default. M. Alexander and Mrs. Alexander ran out the winners, losing only one game throughout the tournament. The place for runners-up was fought out between ,1. Gonole and .Miss M. Walker and T. Godber and Miss D. Pepper. After a very close and interesting game the former pail*, whose handicap was o. 1, defeated the latter, on scratch, by 21 points to 19.
Both winners and runners-up received suitable prizes for their achievements. Considering this is only the second season since the introduction of badminton in Tnkomaru Bay, the majority of the players are exceptionally good. The club is anticipating taking a team to Gisborne, in the near future, to try conclusions with players down there.
