Mr. 11. Reeves, on behalf of the Tauwharepa'rae settlers, urging Lire competiou oi metalling to tne tGu/it. level on the road, said that the metalling would be of use to PR) people, comprising W adults and 41 ciiikiren. The road was also a portion of the inland road which would liuK .Tolaga bay with i'e Karaka and link up also with the 'i'arndale road at present being constructed. Only 40 chains of road remained to be metalled to take it to a point fcCCOft. up. Mr. J. McNeil, chairman of the Uawa iuounty • Council, endorsed these remarks, and said the road had been given preference on the county estimates. The work .was suitable foi co-operative unemployment labour.
