COUNTRY DISTRICT PROBLEM * PROPOSAL FOR POLICE • (Herald Special Reporter) TOLAGA BAY, this day. A proposal tnat the police in country districts might issue temporary bus licenses instead of the applicants having to travel long distances to the chief post office for the purpose was discussed by the Jiinister of Transport, the. Hon. R. Semple, in Tolaga Bay yesterday afternoon. Mr. J. P. Guthrie asked that school buses requiring temporary licenses for special trips would be able to secure their licenses m Tolaga Bay instead of going in to Gisborn'e for the purpose of securing a2s license. Such buses served a useful purpose in transporting shearers and football teams. Mr. Semple said he would not butt in where angels feared to tread, but he would talk to the Commissioner oi Transport on the matter. He would see that the buses were not used in competition with license holders, but he suggested that the police might issue temporary licenses.
