QUIST HAS BOUT OF ’FLU

HOPES OF RECOVERY CONCERN OVER CUP NEW YORK, May 27. The Australian Davis Cup tennis player, Quist, who is suffering from an attack if intestinal influenza, is considerably better to-day, though he is confined to the house. He hopes to practice to-morrow.

American tennis circles expressed some concern over Quist ’s condition, believing it to he more serious than the manager, Mr. C. E. Sproulo, indicated. They speculated on whether it would prevent, his playing against the Americans.

Questioned concerning Australia’s chances if Quist is unable to play, Mr. Sproulo smiled and remarked: “The team is supplied with other good players.”

It is tiie opinion in American circles, however, that the absence of Quist would be a blow which might cost Australia, her chance of winning Die cup.

A foot fault committee has been appointed to watch all players during practise and warn them if they are violating the rule. Mr. Sproulo told the Australian Associated Press that he believed the foot-fault problem would not arise this year.
