INFANTILE PARALYSIS

AUCKLAND AREA CASES 17 DEFINITE IN MONTH (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Inst night. Seventeen definite cases of ininnlilc paralysis have been notified to t-lio Health Department in Auckland central and tho Tlmmes-Tunranga health districts since May 1. Of these patients, eight were from the city area and four, one, of whom was a traveller passing through from the South Island, were admitted to tho Auckland Hospital front the country districts. The remaining five patients were admitted to country hospitals, three going to Tauranga, one to Coromandel, and one to Thames. An additional 11 cases, which were sent to hospital as suspects, have since proved to bo negative. No positive cases have been reported since Tuesday in the Auckland, Thames and Tauranga districts. During April, 30 cases were reported to tho health authorities.
