The Personality of a Star
IT has become a tradition of Dio A screen that a young actress who is popular in good romantic roles must never be given publicity that would
. seem too formal for her very warm v arid human picture appearances. This tradition meets its companion tradition of the opera and concert stage, Where the decree is for utmost dignity, in the case of Lily Pons. Miss Pons, first noted as an operatic soprano, is now a screen star, and in that position she is subjected to appellations “ranging from “this sweet, petft” star to ‘‘lovely little Lily.” Ilpwever, Miss Pons recently gave a rocitq.l in Cagnpgie Hall, New York, in the best concert tradition, and for it she once again became “Mine. Lily POiW,” a sedate title which tie longer /patches completely the romantic screen personality which the world has come to know.
