MARIST CLUB MOTES

TEAM AGAINST H. 5.0.8. SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE Giving 1 hoir most successful perforin n tie q lo elate, the Alnrist senior team last Saturday gave H. 5.0.8. a much harder game than the scores indicated. The forwards, for the first time this season, gave the hacks a fair share of the hall and as a result some pretty back movements wore provided for the spectators. The team is now settling down and, witlV lln> inclusion of several players who have been on the injured list for some weeks, should more than hold their own in the competition from now on.

"With Pat Faisman hack in position at first five-eighth, the hacks had more thrust than in previous weeks and all gave good performances. Boh Julian made his Jirst appearance of the season and his weight in the scrum made a hig difference. 11. Bean gave a good exhibition of hooking and showed that with weight liehind him he can hold his own with any other hooker in the competition. The other forwards held together well and .fought well in the tight, While Maurice Parker was outstanding in the loose, his try dicing a just reward for his consistent following up during the match. The junior team also lias settled down, arid gave an excellent exhibition of Rugby in defeating Celtic. Promising players in the team include E. Owen, R. Friar, K. Hall, Bean, S, R. Rignov, and they should lake prominent parts in the game against Old Boys B to-morrow, which should provide some of the best junior lootball of the season.

Old Boys Keep Same Team The Old Boys’ team to meet the H. 5.0.8. seniors on the Oval to-mor-row will be the same as Ihe one that, made the impression against the previously unbeaten Celtic team. With the men working under pressure on Sajm'dpy last, the coach, Mr. “Paddy” Wall, could see his players to the'*'best advantage, and probably had some inijibr advice to impart to his representatives. He wouhb find little to tell his forwards, but his attacking backs could be polished up in regard to passing. Their defence was a? determined as that of the forwards i'ii the game last Saturday and in that department there were no complaints. Old Boys will'be up against a tough proposition to-morrow and will have to watch all the points.
