CAUGHT IN ROCK FALL
TWO WORKMEN INJURED ONE BURIED TO WAIST (Special to the Herald.) AUCKLAND, this day. Buried to tho waist in rubble and rock which fell from the side of a cutting at Scroggy Hill, a deviation near Glen Eden, Mr. F. W r . J. Potter, a labourer, of Valley road, Henderson, suffered internal injuries iand was taken to the Auckland Hospital yesterday. Another labourer who was working with him, Mr. R. Watson, aged 40, of Cobden road, Newton, suffered slight injuries to his legs. Both men were making a cutting about 400 yards to the south of the Croydon road railway station when, without warning, about eight tons of earth and rock slipped from the top of the bank and buried Mr. Potter to the waist, and at the same time threw him violently against a small truck loaded with spoil.
