ORITTCISM OF "PIRATES"

A pica to all sections of the community, particularly users of road transport facilities, to co-operate with the Transport Department in the elimination of the pirate carrier and price-cutting carrier by the adoption of fixed' charges and the employment by users of licensed carriers onlv, was made by M>'- P- G. Skoghtnd, the No. 2 Transport Licensing Authority, at. a meeting of carriers and users generally in Hastings last evening. The meeting was well attended, there being representatives from the Farmers' Union, stock brokers and firms, the Shcepowners' Federation, and various local bodies throughout the district. It was eventually decided that, the various representatives report back to their principals asking for an expression of opinion on price fixation for the carrying of stock, and also on the proposed schedule of charges which had been compiled.
