GRAVES TO BE VISITED

LOST t FRENCH EXPLORERS

MURDERED 150 YEARS AGO

(Special to the Herald.; AUCKLAND, this day. The memory of countrymen who perished at the hands of savages on Maunn Island, in the Samoan Group, 150 years ago, will be honoured shortly by the officers and men of the French sloop Rigault de Genouilly now at Auckland.

The dead men were members of an expedition, notable in French history, which was led into the Pacific by the famous navigator, La Perouse.

The warship will visit Mauna in a few weeks and the graves of the murdered explorers will be given attention.
