GUIDING A RIVER

GROYNE-BUILDING AT -. ;'y TAITA For some time the Hutt River has developed an eastern tendency in the Taita Gorge some distance below the foot-bridge, and to counteract this an attempt was niade to lead the river away 'iy cutting, a • channel. This has. done good service, but it has not been completely for although the bottom has been "blasted” on several occasions the “cut” has not been deepened as was expected.
