LEVY ON PIGS KILLED
FUND FOR RESEARCH CABINET APPROVAL (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The Cabinet has approved of a levy of twopence a pig on all pigs slaughtered in order to provide an instructional and advisory service for the pig industry, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, said to-night. The industry had developed so rapidly in‘ the last few years that it was rapidly creating problems of national policy. On that score alone it demanded the attention of the Government. The levy was expected to yield £BOOO per annum.
