FORGING AHEAD

WAIROA YOUNG FARMERS CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING (Herald Correspondent.) There was a large and enthusiastic gathering at the annual meeting of the Wairoa Young Farmers’ Club, now only five months old. The report given by the cnairman, Mr. R. Powdrell, was very gratifying, the attendance being good, and the present membership 50. The club was greatly indebted, he said, to Messrs. m/ Bates, G. F. .lardine, A. C. de Lautour, .1. Bainbridge, W. Alexander (Auckland), F. H. Yard on, and F. E. Elphick for their lectures.

The secretary was commended for his fine work, the credit balance being over £-1.

The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr. A. T. Carroll; vicepresidents, Messrs. A. C. dcLautour, J. X. Mackay, and A. H. H. Unwin; chairman, Mr. It. Powdrell; secretary, Mr. \Y. G. Brownlie; treasurer, Mr. D. G. Wilson; committee, Messrs. X. Munro, 11. B-rownlie, Brian doLautour, E. Patterson, and P. dcLautour.

Interesting talks were given by Mr. H. R. Bannister, on . the art of debate, and by Mr. G. Chapman, on the making* of concrete posts.
