THIRD TRIAL STARTS
CHARGES AGAINST WOMAN SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Charged as a result of the discovery of foetal remains at Hastings, Isabel Annie Aves, alias Craike, is standing her third trial on seven counts of allegedly using an instrument with intent to procure a certain result. The hearing opened in a cleared court before the Chief Justice, Sir Michael Myers, but publication of the proceedings was not forbidden, although His Honour suggested to the press that it would he better not to publish the names of persons directly concerned—the women concerned. “I don’t wish to dictate to the press ori questions of taste,” said His Honour, “but I recommend strongly that the names should not be published because there arc more ways than one of looking at it, and 1 prefer to leave that to the discretion and good taste of the press, who, in my experience, do consider the public, interest and also endeavour to do what is in good taste in these matters. Evidence is proceeding.
