Suggesting that the broadcast address by tho Archbishop of Canterbury-, Dr. Cosmo Lang, at the time of the abdication of King Edward had too much “malice and venom,” Mr. Ernest Thurtle, the Labour member of the .House, of Commons for Shoreditch, today asked in the House whether the text was submitted t-o the broadcasting authorities for approval before the delivery of the speech. The Postmaster-General, Mr. G. G. Tryon, informed Mr. Thurtle that he understood that, when the head of the church was broadcasting a service, it was- not the practice of the British Broadcasting Corporation to ask that the text of the address be submitted beforehand.
