MISSING SURVEY PARTY
ANTARCTIC EXPLORATION ONE MEMBER KNOWN NOTIFICATION OF FATHER (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Jan. ]9, 3 p.m.) LONDON. Jan. 18. The news announced by the Colonial Office that a survey party ol six officers who landed on King George's Island, South Shetland, from the research ship Discovery- It are missing, comes on the twenty-fifth anniversary of Captain 11. F. Scott, reaching the South Pole. The Discovery 11 left. England on November 30. 1035, to obtain data of stocks of whales in the Antarctic seas and their distribution and life history. It was expected tlie vessel would hr away for 2C months during which it would visit Australia, New Zealand and tlie Falkland Islands. The names of the missing men have not. been announced, but it is learned that Mr. Janies Walker, the assistant editor of the Western Mail, Cardiff, has been notified by the Admiralty that his. son, Lieutenant Walker, who was married just before sailing, is among the missing. Lieut. Walker Jed the party from the Discovery to rescue Mr. Lincoln Ellsworth.
