ROWING

GISBORNE CLUB COMMITTEE MEETING NAPIER REGATTA Several changes have neon made in the committee of the Gisborne Rowing Club (luring the season on account of officers of the club receiving transfers from the district., and at the meeting last evening the treasurer, Mr. K. A. Bell, notified the committee of his transfer to Hastings at the end of the month. There were present Messrs. A. F. Allen, chairman, K. A. Bell, It. Mahon, S. W- Bruce, D. F. Muir, L. WinstanJey, J. Paine, and the hon. secretary, Mr. R. Coleman. An apology for absence was received from Mr. P. Gavin.

Correspondence from the East Coast Rowing Association advised that the nominations of crows taking part in Ihe one-day regatta at Napier on- February LI would close ori January, 2!>. Applications for the use of the eightmi r at the championship regatta at Wellington close on the same date. A donation was received for the club’s funds from an old member, Mr, P. Baylv, and the chairman instructed the secretary to write a letter of thanks to the donor.

At this stage Mr. Bell tendered his resignation and the chairman moved that it be accepted with regret. He mentioned the valued work that Mr. Bell had done during his connection with the management of the club, and moved that appreciation of his past services be placed on the minutes. Arrangements were advanced in connection with the farewell evening to be tendered Mr. Bell on Friday. The appointment of a new treasurer was considered, and on tlie motion of Mr. Bruce, seconded by Mr. Mahon, it; was decided to elect Mr. Paine to that position.

The secretary was instructed to write to Napier and make the necessary arrangements for the accommodation of 33 men taking part in the regatta. •
