(Herald Corrnspondent.) The oflicial opening of the Wairoa boating season takes place next Monday afternoon, Labour Day. A descendant of one of the partners in a Napier business linn, I’itt and Maguire, which did a good business with Wairoa, is visiting this district. Mr. IL C. Pitt, of Auckland, who with Mrs. Pitt and family art* on a tour ol tlie North Island, was in Wairoa last in 1889. On Tuesday night at the residence of Mrs. It. S. Herbert a party was held for the candidature of Miss Doreen Byrne for the children's jubilee. Mr. M. B. Frost, Auckland, and Mr. ,1. Davidson, Stratford, are visiting Morere.
