RUGBY SUB-UNION BALL

There was a, Rood attendance at the Rugby Sub-Union Ball which was heJa in the public hall, Matawai, on Friday evening. -Mrs. Menzies' orchestra was in attendance, and extras were played bv Misses Mortleman and Korte. Iho basketball girls assisted, at s*pper time. Just before supper, Mr. N. G. Harding conveyed Mr. A. McKay's apologies lor his absence, and congratulated the tour teams, Motu, Koranga. Rakauroa and Matawai, on the quality of the piny during the season, saying that the game had been plavcd for the games sake. He also congratulated the winners of the two cups'. Mr. Hording, after «rtc rising the Caulton family, who for three generations bad Ween outstanding Rugby enthusiasts and a tower of strength to the mb-union, asked Mr. Glen Caulton to make the presentations. Mr. Caulton spoke in glowing terms of the sncccsscft gained by the sub-union teams, mentioning specially the three men who had secured representative iiononrs during the past season, Messrs. If. Ashdown, T. Scholium and G, 11. Phillips, who played against Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay. Mr. Caulton also said that three players from two country teams was a good record, and called on the captains of Koranga and Motu respectively to accept the cups on behall of their teams. A .
