FAREWELL PARTY (Herald Correspondent.) A jolly party of Kanakanaia residents invaded "the home of Mr. and Mrs. 11. O'Connell to farewell the young couple on their impending departure after many years' residence in the district. The party adjourned to the woolshed, which had been gaily transformed with streamers, balloons and greenery, and there dancing, games and competitions wcic enjoyed until a late hour. Music was provided by .Miss M. Morris, piano, Mr. K. Richmond, saxophone, and Mr. K. Morris, drums, and a vocal solo by Miss Maknreta Morris was much appreciated. A delectable supper was served, after which eulogistic speeches concerning Mr. and Mrs. O'Connell were made by Messrs. A. Anderson, J. V. Castles and R. Fraser, Mr. Anderson presenting l them, on behalf of the residents, with a handsome clock, suitably inscribed. Mr. | O'Connell responded. I Those present included Mr. and Mrs. H. O'Connell, Mr. and Mrs. A. Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. C. Grew Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Castles. Mr. and .Mrs. .1. Wilson; Mesdames Hood, E. Trotter, C. 0. Atkins, and A. Stoel; Misses M. Holdsworth. F. Hood, Orr (2), B. Trotter. M. Morris, C. Wilson. M. and J. Steel; Messrs. M. McDonald. M. Orr, Grey (2), Corleti. (2). R. Fraser. A. Steel, K. Morris, and K. Richmond. YOUNG FARMERS' CLUB For some time the feeling has been manifest thai :i Young Farmers' Club would lie of value to this district and with the formation of such a body in view all young men interested arc invited to attend a. meeting arranged for to-morrow evening by the- Te Karaka branch of the Farmers' Union. Mr. E. M. Rates, instructor in agriculture, Gisborne, and Mr. W. E. Chamberlain, secretary of the Gisborne A. and. P. Association, will address the meeting.
